FT California fall yearling catalog available

Fasig-Tipton cataloged 279 entries for its California Fall Yearlings sale, which will be held Sept. 27 at the Fairplex in Pomona, beginning at 11 a.m. (PDT).

“We had a very strong sale last year and as a result breeders have supported us with increased numbers in 2022,” said Fasig-Tipton California representative Mike Machowsky. “The vast majority of yearlings listed are bred in California, and the sire power represented is an attractive mix of local and national top sires, as well as exciting young sires.”

At last year’s one-day sale, 177 of the 234 horses offered sold for gross receipts of $6,933,550, with an average price of $39,173 and a median of $20,000.

Fasig-Tipton will also offer a complementary catalog of horses of racing age, for sale immediately after the conclusion of the yearling catalog. The society is accepting nominations of horses of racing age until September 5th.

“With Santa Anita offering a boat and win program for its fall meet, we believe it is an attractive venue for out-of-state horses who qualify for this program, in addition to horses who raced locally,” Machowsky said. “Santa Anita’s fall meet begins three days after this sale, so the timing is perfect.”
