Introducing Brianna Wiest’s latest book “The Pivot Year”

Over the past 10+ years, internationally bestselling author and writer Brianna Wiest has inspired millions of people around the world to change their thoughts and, in turn, change their lives. In March 2023, Wiest is back with The Pivotal Year365 daily meditations for anyone in the middle of their pivotal period, the space between where they are now and where they want to be.

In her own words, here’s Brianna Wiest on everything you need to know about her upcoming release, The Pivotal Year.

First, tell us a bit about The Pivotal year. What can readers expect from this upcoming release?

I know so many people have busy schedules and hectic lives, it’s hard to set aside time for self-reflection. I wanted to create something that would give readers a daily message that could be something to ponder or use as a reflective exercise, to expand their perceptions and hopefully start planting seeds for deeper and greater revelations. coming.

What made you want to write The Pivotal year? Was it your own pivot period? Was it the insights you acquired throughout your years as a writer? A combination of the two? Give me the tea.

I must say that it is rather the culmination of a personal work that I have been doing for ten years. I tried to distill any ideas that I found useful or expansive into something poetic, inspiring, and easy to access every day.

Over the years, your work has focused primarily on personal transformation and change. For instance, 101 Trials is to change our way of thinking, and The mountain is you is about changing our self-sabotaging behaviors. The Pivotal Yearis however a little different because the premise is based on the idea that what we are meant to be is already inside of us; it’s just a matter of inviting our true selves out of hiding. That said, why do you think so many people, myself included, struggle to be the most authentic themselves?

I hope a common thread running through all my work is the idea that our potential is always dormant within us. It’s a question of whether, and how, we activate it. I believe it’s a layered process – changing the way we think, and then behave, consistently.

There are many reasons why it can seem difficult to be authentic yourself. First, our authentic self is our most vulnerable self. It’s not as painful to have someone reject a version of you that isn’t who you really are. Second, we adopt much of our identity by osmosis. Human beings are so incredibly suggestible and adaptable, and this is especially true if we see external coherences – we start to believe that’s the only way people can be. This is why it is so crucial to expand your perimeter, your circle, your environment. It normalizes differences in a way that makes authenticity more secure.

Finally, we sometimes struggle to find ourselves because our authentic selves are not a product of our stream of consciousness. They are not who we are when we follow every craving, interest, or desire on a whim. They are the people we become when we learn to live by our truest values and ideals. These are the people we become when we start holding ourselves to our own standards and having more integrity.

What are the biggest takeaways you hope your readers will glean The Pivotal year?

I sincerely hope there will be days when readers see the Words of the Day ringing in their minds as some sort of landing place that they can keep coming back to. During downtime, during their commute, or before bed, I wish they could reflect on what they read that day and hopefully it will evoke more self-realization and epiphanies about how to bridge the gap between where they are and where they want to be.

What is your favorite quote from The Pivotal year?

“Life will bring you to your knees. Sometimes with pain, sometimes with beauty, sometimes with both at the same time. It will lower your defenses and give you opportunities to love. He will disguise miracles in the most ordinary moments. It will hurt your heart until it opens. It will teach you, slowly, that it’s not there, it’s inside. Everything is inside. It will go slower than you can bear and faster than you can imagine. It will take you around unexpected turns that turn into fate, and you will learn to trust. You will learn to believe in releasing the layers of illusion that stand between you and the fulfillment of your soul’s deepest desires.
