New Horizons Player Creates a Neat Item Catalog Based on IKEA

An Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan takes inspiration from major furniture retailer IKEA and takes in-game furniture to create a fake catalog.

Probably drawing inspiration from furniture found in their own home, a fan of Animal Crossing: New Horizons created a beautiful piece of art that looks a lot like a vintage IKEA catalog cover. With IKEA being such a big brand that continues to be relevant to many homeowners today, it seems only fitting for a life sim player to crossover the retailer with the furniture found in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

This fan seemed to like going back in time, as he was probably inspired by IKEA catalogs from the past in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan art they created. However, this isn’t the first time that IKEA has taken the Life Sim video game to the Nintendo Switch. In 2021, IKEA Taiwan made a animal crossing– a thematic catalog that took many visuals from the title and implemented them in an official furniture menu. A fan of the life simulation has also created an IKEA-inspired store on his island, complete with a parking lot, the famous restaurant and the market.

Following the trend of original content inspired by IKEA for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mstarliper posted an image of the cover of their furniture catalog. In the artwork, the color palette looks sepia to seem reminiscent of older generation advertising. A few pieces of Animal Crossing: New Horizons the furniture featured in the artist’s work was also vintage-inspired, likely specifically chosen to follow the classic theme. To round out the piece, Mstarliper has also included the cost of each item in Bells, the in-game currency, so fans know how great the full setup will look in the life sim.

Fans of the game probably enjoyed seeing the artist’s vintage version of some of the game’s elements. Comments on the Reddit thread praised Mstarliper for their work, saying they did a terrific job with their article. Avid players of the game, members of the community also commented on the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Bell prices catalog items, noting how affordable some of them were. Others even pointed out that the fan art would look great as a print and the artist mentioned that they are still considering offering them for sale.

After checking Mstarliper’s Instagram account, the artist created several artworks from other video game series such as Kirby and Pokemon. However, this seems to be the first time they have done something to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With the amount of furniture found in the life sim, hopefully the artist will be inspired to create more of these catalog pieces that the community will likely enjoy.
