Universal partners with Songclip, bringing tag catalog to social sites and apps

Songclip has entered into a multi-year strategic global partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG) and Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG).

Songclip offers tools for music licensing and integrating dating, gaming, and messaging apps, in addition to social platforms, and more. Their partnership with UMG is their latest major label deal after signing a similar deal with Warner Music Group last year, reports MBW.

The company says its patented API integrates into apps and social platforms and also provides licensing, search, catalog and compliance, royalty payment, reporting and end-user analytics. . From now on, they will present the music of the catalog of UMG and UMPG in applications and social platforms.

In today’s rapidly changing digital landscape, there are more platforms than ever looking to connect fans to the songs they love. UMPG continues to be at the forefront of creating value for our songwriters through our support for the development of these digital initiatives. We are pleased to conclude this new agreement with Songclip which acts as an on-ramp for audiovisual services to be launched with licensed music in the market.
